Majoring in agricultural media gives you the opportunity to create a better future for agricultural productivity.
Students majoring in a bachelor of science in agricultural media focus on advocating for agriculture by explaining science, technologies and complex agricultural issues within society. Students will receive the tools and knowledge to communicate effectively to the agriculture community across various platforms. Choose between three emphases; advertising, journalism, or production and broadcasting to cultivate your knowledge in agricultural media.
A minor in agricultural communications is also available. Agricultural communications focuses on the foundation of agricultural science combined with the fundamentals of public relations, journalism and media.
Students majoring in agricultural media with an emphasis in advertising focus on promoting agriculture businesses. The major focuses on advocating for agriculture by explaining science, technologies and complex agricultural issues within society while promoting products and services from agricultural companies, businesses and organizations. Coursework includes classes in agricultural science, advertising, marketing and media.
A major in agricultural media with an emphasis in journalism focuses on the development of stories that are relevant to the agricultural community. Students learn to advocate for agriculture by explaining science, technologies and complex agricultural issues through various platforms. Coursework includes classes in agricultural science, digital literacy, journalism and media.
A major in agricultural media with an emphasis in production and broadcasting is designed for students with a strong interest in agriculture and radio or television. The major is designed to give students a foundation in communication practices that can be applied in the agriculture community. Students will gain hands-on learning experiences, including techniques for pre- and post-production, recording methods, microphone and camera operation and script and story writing. Coursework includes classes in agricultural science, digital literacy, audio and video production.
